The wheel of Fortune

The wheel of fortune , Signifies a reversal in fortune and teaches that there is nothing permanent except change , it indicates ups and downs ; wins and losses ; Successes and failures in life.

The wheel of fortune is very relevant in my life at this very moment as my life is continuously changing( and more rapidly than usual) and I suppose heading back to varsity made this whole "change scenario" more apparent to me.

Every new year is a fresh start but doesn't always mean it's particularly easy to leave the past behind especially when you have face to it everyday whether it be your ex , or friend who you've had some kind of quarrel with or something that reminds you of the past.

It can be extremely difficult to embrace change as it is a bitter sweet situation.

I'd like to think of change as a metaphor for rebirth , a second a chance but at the same time it's all a part of our mindset , when we change the world around us changes and our perspective of life becomes very different.

Some of us look back and wish we had appreciated what we had when it was there , others ask themselves " what the hell was i thinking ?" , yes this all seems to be apart of the growing up process.

I've currently been struggling to embrace change as I always find myself re-reading previous chapters of my life but maybe a little venting done through my blogging will help get me on my way.

Who wants to grow up anyway.

This past week I’ve been constantly reminded (my family and friends) that I’m heading out of  my teen years and into my twenties (Eeeek) and how I’m going to be this " young adult" or that I’m " Growing up" etc

But i find myself  myself  frequently perplexed by what "Growing up" means because it never seems to be clear or make any coherent sense.

As kids we all believed in fairy tales but do we ever really know better?? as little girls we all had a fantasy of what life would be. In my case a big puffy, pink, marshmallow ,sparkling dress; prince charming carrying me away to some magical castle and living happily ever after ..... and then turning into a spice girl.

Do we ever grow up??  Is it actually possible??  I’ve never met anyone who’s done it, I mean think about it...... You continuously break the rules you make for yourself, Throw tantrums when things don’t go your way , whisper secrets into your best friend's ear , look for comfort wherever you can find it and like a child you continue to hope – against all your logic , against all your experience

So at the end of the day it's just responsibillity sprinkled with hope ??

Party-Post-Mortem

So don't get me wrong I'm all about fashion, I mean i'm the kind of girl who tries to save her money for a huge-o-mungus shopping spree , has to have good hair or else wont leave her room until she's satisfied, considers herself a shopaholic, in love with makeup and who is obsessed with the latest trends.
As much as I love suffering in my gorgeous (yet oh so painful) heels or standing in the cold in my sissy boy shorts or Latest dress , nothing seems to beat that sense of relief when you get home on a late friday night.

Flinging off those killer heels, throwing your outfit onto the floor or over a chair (because you are way too lazy to pack it away),Snuggling up in your oldest Pj Boxers and an oversize t-shirts .
Washing off " your evening face" ( Sometimes not even) or just waking up the next morning with last night's party facial mask( Nobody likes to wake up to Bozo the clown or being being Bozo the clown.) But in my case Applying my facial Spritzer and Cream & Brushing my teeth is a big MUST ( I thank myself in the morning)  and last but not least ......Diving into bed and blogging about the evening... Yes!!

And then comes the Post-Party-Brunch because breakfast is just too main stream ( and it's not as if you're even  awake). Coffee dehydrates you ( but speeds up your metabolism) so don't even consider it unless your are planning on having tons of water with it. Carbs is always a big must ( can't live with them and can't live without them) , Cold pizza tends to be a universal favourite but I personally like to kick off my day with cupcakes or any form of sugar overdose will do.

Dancing around in our bedrooms , drinking red bull through twizzler candy and eating loads of junk food.
My fab oufit for the night was my Pj's and as for the entry fee .... there wasn't one.

it was Good, clean fun :) and great start to my new year.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

I was recently watching a documentary on YouTube by activist Jean Kilbourne called me "Killing us softly 4" ( the fourth installment to her award winning series of documentaries).

It highlights the subliminal messaging that media projects , and sure this is something we all know now a days and yet we are still so convinced that it doesn't impact us ( I'm guilty too) but the sad truth is that we've all been brought up in a pop culture-whirl-wind that exempts no-one from it's influence

I don't know a single woman/ girl who hasn't spent time scrutinizing one or more "flaw" and why shouldn't they there is an entire industry founded on looks.

Models aren't models because they're funny , smart or intelligent ( not to say that can't be or aren't) in the end the picture is all you see and sadly not all of us can live in an air brushed photo- not even the models.

Even in blogs , non of us are trying to be ourselves...we are trying to be what we have seen in ads, cool, edgy and fashionable.

From Facebook to twitter it's all about the picture and it's not even our own picture it's something we try to imitate that we've seen in TV or in a Magazine. Each album has been morphed (as if it was meant for Elle or Vogue) and  lets not forget the splurge of indie-processed-"vintage" camera shots with nothing indie about them.( Not to say that i don't love the vintage effect)

We all photoshop , fake smile, look for our best angle ( For me it's the left side LOL)  and not just any picture will do.

We even throw in the odd acquaintance  (kissing and hugging as if you are long lost best friends)as extras as we all want to copy-cat the "kodak moment".

and Yes I'm guilty of all of the above but at the end of the day this isn't the core problem though , it's respect for one's self and others and how we percieve ourselves and each other , it's important to know that fashion objectifies alot of things in the name of art and the awareness of this is imperative for a healthy self-image and i mean no-one is perfect and no-one is suppose to be.
I personally would hate to live in a world full of perfect people as it sounds awufully boring.

I personally believe in substance and style as it is a beautiful marriage.

#POINT BLANK

So i'm not actually sure what has brought about this sudden change , maybe i'm simply bored and trying to attempt something new , Or maybe the girl just doesn't fit the blog anymore.

I originally started a blog because I felt I had something to say and had been inspired by other bloggers. As time went by I felt that inspiration had turned to competition, who could get more hits and followers. Reading these awe-inspiring and intimidating blogs made me wonder ….”What do I have to offer to the world of bloggers?”

I then I realized this is just shoes, bags, hairs, celebrities, it's a world of fun and play where we are the barbies and any shoe fits. It’s pop culture, it’s not meant to be taken seriously, there is a ton in the world to be serious about already. So I’m going to have fun and take risks ......It may not be perfect but it will be me.

Enjoy
